It is estimated that 2.7 billion people, nearly half the world's population, exist on less than $2 a day, with about 1 billion of them living on less than $1 a day. This situation exists while the nations of the world collectively produce enough food to feed every person on Earth, the latest figures reveal that more than 850 million people do not get enough food to lead healthy, active lives.

Meanwhile, diseases of the developing world continue to exact a terrible toll: malaria, for example, is estimated to kill one African child every 30 seconds.

StanCert’s involvement in developing countries is motivated by eye-opening facts such as these. Because we possess expertise that is capable of making a difference, we are compelled to work with responsible organisations to impact local communities and the world at large.

Developing countries often struggle to access the benefits of standardisation and encounter barriers to engaging effectively in trade.  This, along with other influences, may contribute to a lower quality of life for their citizens. StanCert helps these countries overcome some of their trade constraints to give them the greatest possible chance to prosper and enhance the wellbeing of their citizens.

An effective regulatory, standards and compliance infrastructure has many benefits and StanCert assists developing countries to identify and achieve their objectives through a collaborative approach and its innovative Standards Capacity Building Strategic Framework (SCBSF).

We have developed standards in some of the most high profile, commercially sensitive and political environments.  For example, infant and nursery products, electrical safety, biometrics, risk management, corporate governance and leading edge information technology applications, to name but a few.  In total the team at StanCert have been responsible for the production of in excess of 1000 national and many international standards that in many cases underlie essential regulatory systems.  We have collaborated with many international standards bodies and StanCert has particular expertise in the Asia Pacific region.

StanCert is also on the cutting edge of improving regulatory environments in Australia and overseas.

To support our international work we have access to a network of associates that spans the globe and caters for almost every industry sector. We are also networked to regulators, standards bodies and industry associations.

Our extensive international experience has included working closely with governments, national standards bodies and industry representatives in all member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. For example, StanCert played a leading role in the development and implementation of the AusAid funded Strengthening ASEAN Standards and Conformity Assessment Systems Project.

We are also currently collaborating on a high profile standardisation project with all APEC Member Economies.

The technical assistance programmes offered by StanCert have been extremely beneficial to all the participants. The programmes were very well structured to meet the defined goals and objectives. The selection of presenters should also be highly lauded as they were not only experts in their respective fields who expressed themselves with great clarity but were also good organizers who were able to manage the running of the project smoothly.
